MILES
Gym instructor
Why did you become a Gym Instructor?
Exercise is a fundamental part of my life, and periods where I’ve experienced significant injury (ruptured achilles, herniated disc) really brought into sharp clarity how crucial physical activity is for my sense of well-being. Exercise is so tremendously beneficial when it comes to relieving stress and supporting our mental health, so the prospect of supporting others in integrating exercise into their lives, and experiencing all of the benefits that physical activity can bring makes me excited to get up in the morning.
What do you do in your own training?
I focus on hypertrophy (muscle-building) training principally, but the benefits of cardio can’t be denied, so I’m working on finding more balance!
Favourite cheat meal?
Pizza, followed by a minimum half-tub of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream.
What are your areas of expertise?
My experience is mostly in resistance training, but because of my own injury history, I’m developing my formal knowledge of rehabilitation and pain-management techniques. I’m also passionate about the benefits of exercise for older populations.
