Why did you become a Personal Trainer?
Growing up, I was quite shy and didn’t have much interest in sports or outdoor activities, I was very much a couch potato. It was only after being encouraged by a great friend to create a home, cast iron gym in my garage that things changed. We trained most days of the week, and I found my body responded quite dramatically, which only intensified my passion and my confidence exploded. My body changed physically and my mental health improved significantly. I felt like a new person!
Seeing the benefit of this healthy lifestyle, only pushed me further to pursue a career in personal health and well-being, something I really enjoyed. Eight years later, I still love the job and I’ve made many new friends along the way, with a wealth of knowledge to follow. Working 1:1 with someone and seeing clients achieve their goals always makes my day, whether it’s just learning to do a pushup or the infamous pull-up.
What do you do in your own training?
There is nothing more satisfying than plugging in my headphones and throwing some free weights around. My “go to” exercise is the traditional deadlift, but a lot of my own training revolves around compound exercises. I notoriously hate cardio, and it will most likely be a “blue moon” if you see me do it!
What are your areas of expertise?
My ideal client is someone who would like to pursue a path of strength conditioning and/or hypertrophy training. They usually come hand in hand! I also dabble in high intensity, interval training for weight loss.
