Hello, fitness enthusiasts! If you’re thinking of joining our Beckwith Health Club family in Harrogate, we know there might be plenty of questions swirling around in your mind. That’s why, in this blog, we’ll go through some of the most common questions we get. Let’s dive in! 

What types of memberships does Beckwith offer? 

Beckwith Health Club has a variety of memberships options.

  • Monthly Rolling Membership (most popular) 

  • Annual Membershipinvolves a one-off upfront payment but saves you money overall 

  • Teen Gym Membershipa special offer for everyone aged 13-15 years old thatincludes free personal or small group training 

  • Group Memberships – a special offer available for groups of four people that will effectively only pay for three members and get the fourth free 

  • P.A.Y.G. 30-Consecutive Day Membership – This membership has no contract and is ideal for anyone wanting a short-term gym membership in Harrogate.

What facilities are available at Beckwith Health Club?

Beckwith Health Club has a wide range of facilities, including large locker rooms, state-of-the-art equipment, a spacious free weights space, stretching areas, functional equipment, and the phenomenal EGYM Smart Strength machines and Fitness Hub.

Some of our equipment and facilities include: cardiovascular machines (treadmills, cross trainers and bikes), fixed resistance machines, a spacious free weights space and stretching areas, and a range of functional equipment, including a Spartan rig, weight sledge, Stairmaster and a lifting area.

What is EGYM? 

EGYM is a fitness technology that combines automated, personalised workout plans with connected equipment to offer a more efficient and engaging workout experience. EGYM aims to make workouts smarter, more motivating, and tailored to individual needs and goals.

Does Beckwith Health Club offer fitness classes? 

Absolutely! Beckwith Health Club offers a variety of group classes, including yoga, spin, Pilates and HIIT sessions.

The gym’s brilliant and qualified instructors, both external specialists and in-house team, deliver daily fitness classes and create a fun and motivating atmosphere to keep you moving and engaged. 

The small class sizes ensure that each member gets the most out of each class.

Are Beckwith’s fitness classes free? 

Yes. All fitness classes on Beckwith’s timetable are included in your membership.

Do I need to book in advance for classes at Beckwith? 

Yes, we recommend booking your spots in advance, especially for our popular classes. This way, you can guarantee your space and avoid any disappointment on class day. Booking is easiest directly through the app, which you can access after starting your membership.

How do I become a member of Beckwith Health Club? 

Joining Beckwith is simple! You can sign up online by clicking here or visit us in person for a friendly chat. You can find us at Central House, Beckwith Knowle, Otley Rd, in Harrogate HG3 1UF. Beckwith’s staff will be more than happy to walk you through the process on our tablet and answer any questions. 

Do I get a membership card when I sign up? 

No. Once you have joined Beckwith Health Club, you will be invited to download our App. The App allows you to scan your virtual card each time you enter the club. You will also be assigned a membership number, which you can use to check into the club if you don’t have a smartphone. 

When you come to the club for your first workout, be sure to come to the desk and have them add your photo to our system if you haven’t already set one up on the app. 

Is there an initial membership payment? 

The initial payment includes a one-off administration fee of £20 plus the current month’s pro-rata membership fees before your direct debit begins. 

When will my direct debit be taken from my bank when I join Beckwith Health Club? 

Depending on when you signed up, your rolling direct debit will be taken on one of four dates: the 1st, 8th, 15th, or 25th day of each month or the first working day after that if the day falls on a weekend or Bank Holiday. 

All new sign-ups since January 2022 have a collection date of the 1st of each month.

What should I bring on my first visit? 

For your first workout at Beckwith, bring comfortable workout clothes, a water bottle to stay hydrated, and a towel if you plan on using the gym facilities. Don’t forget your enthusiasm—we’re excited to help you kickstart your journey! 

Does Beckwith Health Club offer personal training?

Absolutely! Beckwith’s friendly personal trainers can help you craft a personalised workout plan suited to your goals. Whether you need a few pointers or a complete program overhaul, just ask at the front desk, and we’ll connect you with the right team member! All Beckwith members have a complimentary goal-setting session with a PT included in their membership.

Can I have a trial visit before signing up? 

Yes – Beckwith offers a FREE Day Pass so that you can experience everything the gym has to offer before committing. This way, you can get a feel for the atmosphere and see if it’s the right fit for you. 

What are Beckwith Health Club’s opening times? 

Monday – Thursday: 06:00 – 21:00 

Fridays: 06:00 – 20:00 

Saturday & Sunday: 08:30 – 15:00 

How do I cancel my membership at Beckwith? 

If you wish to cancel your membership after the initial 7-day cooling-off period, we require 30 days’ written notice.

Please send us an email to initiate the 30-day notice period to cancel your membership to Info@BeckwithHealthClub.co.uk 

Please include your name, membership ID, address, and date of birth, requesting a termination process for your membership. We will confirm this in writing within a few days by email.
